His insights into\nglobal affairs\, leadership\, and international cooperation promise to be\nexceptional and inspiring.\nHis Excellency Iván Romero Martínez\nAmbassador of Honduras to the Court of St James’s and Dean of the\nDiplomatic Corps\nWe are honoured to welcome Ambassador Ivan Romero Martínez\, one of the\nmost senior and respected diplomats in London\, to speak to the Rotary Club\nof London.\nAmbassador Romero-Martínez has over 50 years of diplomatic experience\,\nrepresenting Honduras around the world — including Spain\, Egypt\,\nMorocco\, the Dominican Republic\, Jamaica\, Haiti\, Colombia\, Belgium\, the\nNetherlands\, Luxembourg\, the United Kingdom\, Sweden\, Denmark\, Finland\,\nNorway and Ireland.\nHe has also held several of the most prestigious multilateral positions\,\nincluding:\nAmbassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations (New\nYork and Geneva)\nAmbassador to the European Union (Brussels)\nDeputy Permanent Representative to the Organisation of American\nStates (OAS) \nAt home\, he acted as Special Adviser to the President of Honduras with the\nrank of Secretary of State\, directing his country’s foreign policy at the highest\nlevel.\nHis international leadership has included roles such as: \nVice-President of the UN General Assembly\nPresident of the International Coffee Organisation (ICO)\nPresident of the International Mobile Satellite Organisation\nVice-President of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) \nAmbassador Romero-MartíHis nez holds degrees in law and social sciences\,\nas well as a PhD in international relations. He has further studied\ninternational law and integration politics at Johns Hopkins University\,\ninternational commerce at the Centre of Comparative Studies in Buenos\nAires\, and European integration at the University of Brussels.\nHe is also a distinguished author on matters of justice\, international law\, and\ntreaties\, and has been honoured by governments and institutions\nworldwide.
