Bernie Davis – Four Royal Weddings and a Royal Funeral: A Career Path 👑🎥

We are delighted to announce that Bernie Davis will be joining us as a forthcoming speaker at the Rotary Club of London.

In his fascinating talk, “Four Royal Weddings and a Royal Funeral – a Career Path”, Bernie will share the remarkable story of how he joined the BBC straight from school and built a distinguished career in lighting with its Outside Broadcasts Department. Through a series of unexpected opportunities, he became part of the team planning for future royal events—going on to light five royal weddings, three royal funerals, and a coronation.

This engaging 40-minute talk offers a rare behind-the-scenes insight into the technical artistry and careful preparation involved in broadcasting some of the nation’s most historic ceremonial moments, followed by time for questions and discussion.

Bernie also brings extensive experience lighting major cultural broadcasts from the Royal Opera House and the National Theatre, as well as thirty years of work on the BBC Proms—making this a truly unique opportunity to hear from someone at the heart of Britain’s most iconic televised events.
